Wall art as per Vastu: living room and bedroom
What Vastu traditions commonly suggest for paintings in the living room and bedroom: subjects, colours, walls and what to avoid, explained without promises.

Many Indian families think about Vastu when they choose where a painting goes and what it shows. Below are the suggestions you'll hear most often for the living room and the bedroom. They are traditions, not rules we can vouch for: we don't claim any piece brings wealth, health or luck. What we can do is make a piece whose subject, colours and size suit the wall you have in mind.
The general idea
Most Vastu advice on art comes down to one thing: a home should show calm, growth and togetherness, not conflict or loss. That is why the suggestions favour nature, light and pairs, and why certain subjects are usually avoided.
Living room
- Commonly suggested subjects: nature, trees and leaves, flowing water, sunrise, lotus, birds in flight.
- Walls often mentioned: the north and east walls for nature and water; the south wall for warmer, stronger colours.
- Colours: warm neutrals, greens and earthy tones are generally considered welcoming.
- Usually avoided: scenes of war, violence, sorrow, sinking ships or wild animals fighting.
Bedroom
- Commonly suggested: calm, soft subjects; pairs (two birds, two flowers) for a couple's room.
- Walls often mentioned: the south-west wall for a couple's bedroom.
- Usually avoided in the bedroom: images of water, and anything lonely or aggressive.
- Colours: soft and restful, such as cream, sand, blush or sage.
Abstract art and Vastu
Abstract texture has no subject to worry about, which is why many people choose it for these walls. Colour then carries the mood: neutral relief sits quietly; gold detail and warm tones feel festive.
Pooja corner
The pooja corner has its own traditions about direction and placement. Tell us the wall, its direction and the space you have when you message, and we'll suggest a piece and a size to suit it.
Choosing with us
Send us the wall, which way it faces and the room's colours on WhatsApp. Most pieces can be made in your colours, and a subject that matters to your family can be designed as a commission.
